One of the fun things about all of the treasure hunting we do for the shop is that sometimes we really do find treasures but these treasures aren’t always items that would sell well in the shop because they are very industry specific. Early this spring I was lucky enough to find this odd looking trim
I didn’t know what it was for sure when I found it but I knew it was really old. Once I got it home and was able to look at it closer I realized they were trims used in hat making. Judging from the style, straw and horsehair, most likely from the Victorian era.
Today I am packing up these beautiful pieces of history and sending them off to some fabulous hat makers who will truly love, appreciate, and use these pieces to continue this amazing skilled trade of hat making.
