This post has nothing what so ever to do with sewing other than to let you know that I have a new article out on Foundations Revealed! It is a subscriber only site so you won’t be able to read it if you are not a subscriber, but they do have an awesome spring deal going on right now if you have been tempted to check it out. My article is on drafting a 1911 Princess Slip from scratch.
Spring has finally arrived in southern Wisconsin! For the first time in too many months the temperature is actually warmer outside than it is in my house. We were in the mid 60s yesterday and it looks like we are on our way to 70s today!! It was too glorious of a morning to miss being outside so I called up my walking partner Gretchen, loaded up Miss L.’s stroller, and and we all headed to the Horicon Marsh which is only a couple of miles from our house.
I did manage to snap a few pictures for my blogging/birding friend Deni over at Den State. Deni, you would have been in heaven except for the lack of port-a-pots. The only pot stops on hand for the whole hike were the natural kind and with no leaves out on the bushes yet, it doesn’t provide much privacy for a pregnant lady that has to pee 🙂
I have no idea how I got the horizon to curve on the picture – it is really hard to see what you are doing on an iphone screen in bright sunlight!
There were tons of birds of all kinds but I mostly had my hands full with Miss L.’s stroller and we were there more for the walking than the birding.
We did a 2.25 mile hike through the front of the marsh. Things are just starting to green up and you can hear the buzz and hum of nature getting busy. There were tons of bird watchers in the upper lot with their fancy cameras set up. We are assuming they were there to watch the pelicans coming in. They were probably cursing the three of us for tromping through and disturbing nature with our giddy laughter, but hey, we just spent the worst 7 months of winter hell ever!! Besides, the only birds we disturbed were geese (sky carp as Gretchen calls them). We didn’t even see any pelicans on our side of the marsh.
So we are all taking naps before lunch so we can sew this afternoon. I call this a perfect Saturday!
