Welcome to one of the online homes of the Purple Pincushion! The Purple Pincushion is a custom sewing and alterations business located in Mayville, WI. I opened the Purple Pincushion in 2002 specializing in alterations of bridal and formal wear with the hope that eventually I would be able to dedicate my time to my true love, designing and custom sewing.
That time has finally arrived in a most unexpected way. This past year I put my business on hold to dedicate my time to my amazing daughter Lily-an. For the first time in 10 years I am not chained to my sewing machine by the mad rush of the bridal season. Alterations is a lucrative, but all consuming business. As long as I continue to do alterations I will never have time to design or dedicate myself to the quality of custom sewing that I really want to do. I am still unwinding from the intensity of the past decade, but I am rapidly regaining my love for the art of sewing. This blog is an outlet for my art, not my work!!
One Stitch At A Time I will find my way back to the artist I set aside so many years ago. Hope you enjoy the journey with me.
